BIOGRAPHIES OF PEOPLE
Guoyin Wang was born in Chongqing, China, in 1970. He received the B.Sc. degree in Computer Software, the M.Sc. degree in Computer Software, and the Ph.D. degree in Computer Organization and Architecture from Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an, China, in 1992, 1994, and 1996, respectively. He worked at the University of North Texas, USA, and the University of Regina, Canada, as a visiting scholar during 1998-1999. Since 1996, he has been working at the Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, where he is currently a Professor, the Chairman of the Institute of Computer Science and Technology (ICST), and the Dean of the College of Computer Science and Technology. He is also a Part-Time Professor with the Shanghai Jiaotong University, Southwest Jiaotong University, Xidian University, and University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. He is the Chairman of the Rough Set Theory and Soft Computation Society, Chinese Association of Artificial Intelligence. He serves as a program committee member for many international conferences and editorial board member of several Journals. He has been awarded several government medals, and was named a national excellent teacher and a national excellent university key teacher by the Ministry of Education, China, in 2001 and 2002 respectively. The institute (ICST) directed by him was elected as one of the top ten outstanding youth organizations of Chongqing, China. He is the author of the book Rough Set Theory and Knowledge Acquisition published by Xi'an Jiaotong University Press, in 2001, the editor of the book Rough Sets, Fuzzy Sets, Data Mining, and Granular Computing published by Springer-Verlag, in 2003, and has about 100 research publications. His research interests include data mining, machine learning, rough sets, neural networks, soft computing, etc.
